Step1
Open Microsoft Excel. Click on the "Start" button on the main operating system menu. Then choose "Programs" from the start menu. Next, select "Microsoft Office" on the program menu. Finally, click on "Microsoft Excel" in the Microsoft Office menu to open Microsoft Excel.

Locate an existing Excel file or create a new one to use with STDEVP function. If there is file that contains the necessary data to use STDEVP function, click on the "Open" option from the file menu and select the correct file. To create a new file, simply select "New" from the file menu of Microsoft Excel.

Understand that the STDEVP function returns the standard deviation of a population based on a set of values.

Enter the information necessary to use the STDEVP function. A person may use up to thirty real numbers or ranges of real numbers with the STDEVP function.

Choose a cell for the STDEVP function output. This cell must be empty and should be conveniently located on the spreadsheet for future reference.

Click on the "Insert Function" button on the formula bar and locate the STDEVP function. A user can manually search for the function by typing in "STDEVP" to the search box on the insert function dialogue box. Once located, double click on the STDEVP function or select the function and click "OK."
Step7
Type in or select the cell range, or ranges of numbers for the STDEVP computation. A person can either type the cell ranges into the text box in the function dialogue box or select the button to the right of the text box to manually select the ranges.
Step8
Select "OK" from the function dialog box after all of the necessary information input is complete. This completes the use of STDEVP function.
