When you run an online business, you want to compile as much data as possible to help make your company a success. With Google Analytics, you can set up different tracking methods in order to analyze the browsing and buying habits of your site's visitors. When you sign up with Google Analytics, you should enable e-commerce tracking.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Sign in to Google Analytics. If you have never registered your site, you'll have to do this before adjusting the data reported for your website.
Step2
Click the "Edit" button under the profile settings after the registration process. Let Google Analytics know that your site is an e-commerce business.
Step3
Select the currency that you want reported for your site. You can also decide on the number of decimal places that you want listed in your figures.
Step4
Add the Google Analytics tracking code to your site's receipt page. Once it is successfully installed, the site can provide reporting on your website's transactions.
Step5
Visit the "Help" section on Google Analytics if you run into any problems. If you have difficulty installing the tracking code to your page, look to their support department for possible problems that you could encounter.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may want to add several tracking codes to your website pages. You can track each visitor's movements as they work their way through your checkout process.
  • You won't see any reporting when first enabling e-commerce tracking. It may take up to 24 hours to get your site data.
