How to Edit a Custom Tracking Code in Google Analytics
Google Analytics is used for tracking visitors to your website. After signing up with your website information, Google Analytics provides you with a tracking code to install on the pages of your website. In some cases, the tracking code provided doesn't work with the way that your website is setup. You'll then have to edit the tracking code.

Complete the registration form on Google Analytics to receive your tracking code. Save this information before continuing.

Go to the Google Analytics Help Center. Under the section "Installing the Tracking Code," you should see a segment that discusses the different scenarios that may require you to edit the tracking code.

Choose one of the three the scenario that best applies to your website: tracking multiple domains in one profile; tracking more than one subdomain in one profile; or tracking multiple domain aliases.

Follow the directions given. You need to add in lines of text provided by Google Analytics to your tracking code. Copy and paste the added lines to ensure that they are correct.

Save the changes to your tracking code. After this step is complete, you can post the new edited version on your website. Your results should appear on the Google Analytics site within 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings
When you make edits to the tracking code, you may find that the data reports are different than the standard versions. You may need to use the advanced filter to change your report settings.
