Step 1
Check your gear to ensure it's properly packed and that you have two parachutes. Make sure you know how to open the parachutes and how to maneuver and steer the chute when you land.
-
Step 2
Practice poses on the ground before boarding the plane in the reverse order that you are jumping. Strap yourself into the plane. Line up at the door once the plane enters the drop zone typically between 10,500 and 13,800 feet.
-
Step 3
Step out of the airplane to start free falling. In all of the head down poses, the head and body face downward toward the ground. Perform the Diving Frog where the torso is vertical, the head is down and the legs are bent with the knees apart. Complete this head down pose by keeping the feet together while holding your feet.
-
Step 4
Do other head down poses such as the Straddle Headstand and Swan Headstand. Keep the torso vertical and head pointed down toward the ground with the legs apart in a straddle position for the Straddle Headstand. Modify the Straddle Headstand by pulling the legs together and keeping them straight in line with the body for the Swan Headstand.
-
Step 5
Complete all head down poses by about 3,900 feet and prepare to land. Get in a tracking position where your body is straight, stiff and head first to move away from any other divers. Turn away from other skydivers. Give or look for the signal to deploy your parachute, open your parachute and flare the parachute seconds before landing to create a softer landing.
