Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Check with your city for any programs that they may have to recycle electronic products. Most major cities offer some sort of recycling program for used electronic products and they offer the most convenient and effective way for recycling old electronic goods.
Step2
Log on to the e-cycling Central website and click on your state to find a list of e-cycling events or to find an electronics recycler in your local area to recycle electronic products.
Step3
Plug-in to recycling through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website. They have a list of "Plug-In To eCycling Partners" that will safely collect and reuse or recycle your electronic products as a safe alternative to just throwing them in the trash.
Step4
Find out if the manufacturer of your electronic device has a recycling policy. From cell phones to cameras to computers, many manufacturers are offering recycling programs that allow you to send in your old item when you purchase a new one and some even offer money or rebates for old products that can be used toward the purchase of a new product.
Step5
Look to see if there are any not for profits in your area that recycle old electronic products. In many major cites there are many organizations that will take your old gadgets, repair them and resell them or give them away to people who need them.
Step6
Fix your gadgets instead of getting rid of them. People are quick to buy something new if the current gadget breaks, and other times just because they want something new and shiny. Instead of getting a new gadget, fix your old one or donate it to a computer or electronics repair shop.
