Things You'll Need:
- Sunblock
- Hats
- Large umbrellas
- Water
- Electrolyte drinks
- Fruit
-
Step 1
Apply plenty of sunscreen to your children before leaving the house. Bring extra sunscreen to the parade for frequent reapplications. Put hats on your children. Sit in the shade, or bring large umbrellas to block the sun rays.
-
Step 2
Locate the lost children booth right away. Tell children to ask mothers with children or a police officer for help if they get lost. Set a meeting place for older kids that get separated.
-
Step 3
Stay behind fences and barricades. Do not let your children run out into the middle of the parade to pick up dropped prizes and candy.
-
Step 4
Keep your kids hydrated during the parade. Make sure they drink plenty of water or hydrating drinks. Feed your kids fruits to help keep their liquids up.
-
Step 5
Choose a parade viewing location that is full of families. Avoid sitting next to raucous teenagers or shady looking people. Pick an area where the consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
-
Step 6
Be a stickler about keeping kids feet out of the street. Sit a little ways back from the curb so that your children are not tempted to dangle their feet.
