Many aspects of RuneScape involve fighting people and creatures to get money, gain experience and complete quests. Attacking in RuneScape is one of the most basic tasks of the game, but before you jump right it, make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Arm your character with a weapon or be prepared to attack an opponent with your arms and feet. Many different types of weapons can be purchased or made in the RuneScape world. Once you have one that you want to use to attack, equip it by right clicking on it in your inventory.
Step2
Click on the icon of two crossed swords on your control panel and select the method you want to use to attack your opponent. The choices vary based on what type of weapon you are using, but, for example, if you're using a sword, you'll be able to choose if you want to slash, chop or lunge.
Step3
Scope out an opponent by hovering your mouse pointer over him and viewing his combat level. If the potential opponent is a lower level than your character, you'll have a pretty good chance of beating him. However, if he is a higher level, you may want to try to a different opponent.
Step4
Right click on your selected target once you are ready to attack. Click on the "Attack" option and watch as your character goes to battle.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you attack someone by mistake, run away from the battle. Click on the ground while the battle is going on and your character will back away. Chances are the opponent will pursue your character, however, so you click on the run icon and get away. The opponent will eventually give up the chase.
