How to Create Custom iGoogle Skins With igThemer

Google's customizable page, iGoogle, is very popular because you are able to use themes of different varieties, colors and images. IgThemer now makes it possible to create your own theme and to customize the look of your homepage even more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Navigate your way to the igThemer page. At the top of the website, you will see a mock-up of the header for an iGoogle page. Below is a list of various choices that allow you to customize your theme.
2. Select various colors and images. As you change the colors, you will see the changes appear in the mock up at the top of the page. This is a great way to determine if your choices appeal to you.
3. Browse the color wheel and options. Color wheels help you decide on the colors you like. You can also view the various options. For example, they list the different Google logos.
4. Add any image you like to the various options. There are image and tile options, too. Place the URL of the image you wish to use in the box. Hitting the refresh button at the top of the options shows you your image in the location you've selected.
5. Create your theme by hitting the "Create" button at the bottom of the page. On the following page, it gives you the option to preview the theme. You can set this as your homepage, if you desire to see your theme. You can also copy this URL and submit it to Google as a public theme.
