How to Use AOL on Ebuddy

Ebuddy is a free web service that allows you to instant message your friends and family without having to install any software. This prevents the risk of a virus or spyware being installed on your computer. It also allows you to use AOL to instant message your friends using public computers at the library or other businesses.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Create an AOL account if you don't already have one. Log on to AOL and select a user name and password. Activate your account by clicking "Activate" in the confirmation email that you receive.

  2. Step 2

    Log on to the Ebuddy website. From the "Web Messenger" list select "AIM." Enter your screen name and password.

  3. Step 3

    Select your initial log in status. You can choose to log in as being "Online" or "Invisible." Click "Sign in."

  4. Step 4

    Add "Friends" to your contact list if this is a new account. You can add them using their AOL screen name or email address.

  5. Step 5

    Instant message your friends by clicking on their user name and typing a message. You will receive a reply if they are available.

  6. Step 6

    Host a conference by clicking on "New Conference" in Ebuddy. From here you can select multiple AOL contacts to chat with at one time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Protect your identity. Never give out personal information when chatting on Ebuddy or any other instant messaging website. There's no guarantee that your connection is secure.
