How to Get Cheap Tickets to NHL Games

Viewing an NHL game in person is a lot of fun and a great way to experience the speed and excitement of the game. Attending an NHL game can be expensive, however, especially when you attend a game as a family outing. There are a few ways you can make attending an NHL game affordable.

Instructions

    • 1

Attend family promotional nights. Most NHL teams have "Family Night" events offering discounted tickets or food and ticket packages for the whole family to families attending games together. Call your local ticket office to find out when these events are scheduled and buy tickets for the whole family at a discount.

    • 2

Enlist the help of coworkers and suggest a company night out. Local businesses that attend hockey games as a group for promotional purposes are often offered discount ticket prices for purchasing them in large quantities as a package. You can purchase your ticket at a discounted rate and also get to know your coworkers a little better.

    • 3

Use your credentials, especially if you're a student. Most NHL teams offer student discounts to local students with valid student identification and some have "Student Nights" where a certain number of students can get in for just a few dollars. Businesses affiliated with teams will often offer similar discounts to customers.

    • 4

Cheer in numbers. Some teams will offer discount prices on tickets that are purchased in numbers of 10, 20 or more. Recruit family members, neighbors or fellow fans that you know from work or school to attend together and receive a bulk discount off the regular ticket price.

    • 5

Aim high. The closer the seats are to the ice, the more expensive they will be. Choose seats that are in the upper levels of the arena. These tickets will be much less expensive than seats in the lower levels.
