How to clip a cigar

I manage a cigar shop in Florida, and everyday run into people who don't properly clip their cigar. I'll teach you to properly cut the cigar to make the smoke as enjoyable as possible

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cigar Cutter (or cigar punch if you prefer)
  • Cigar

Step1
First of all grab yourself a good handmade cigar(you don't have to clip machine made Cigars) and your cigar cutter. I recommend a Double Guillotine cutter which has two blades to clip the cigar
Step2
Once you have your cigar and cutter you will take the cigar and look for the cap.(The cap is The closed end of the cigar) The roller puts the cap on the cigar after rolling it. If you look closely you will notice the edge of the cap, this is where you want to cut at
Step3
You want to cut as close to the caps edge as possible. If you cut too far down which is the mistake many people make you will take the chance of the cigar unraveling or you may be spitting out little pieces of tobacco while your smoking it.
Step4
When your ready to clip the cigar put the cap of the cigar through the mouth of your cutter. Try to be as even as possible, and close the cutter. Discard cap and your ready to enjoy your cigar.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would prefer to use a cigar punch which will cut a small hole into the back of the cigar I recommend you moisten the cap by putting the cigar in your mouth for a few seconds, this will help prevent the punch from cracking the cigar. Once moist place the punch in the center of the cigar. Rotate it back and forth until the punch is fully into the cigar. Then just pull it out the cut tobacco will come out with the punch.
