Bran mash is good to give to horses that tie up, have digestive problems or are older. It is also a great mask to put supplements in that you want to give to your horse. In the winter horses love a warm bran mash with their regular feed just like humans like soup in the winter. Bran mash smells good and is easy to eat for most horses, making it a favorite among most equine. It is also a good source of water for a horse that will not drink much.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide how much bran mash you want to give your horse. The best way to figure this out is to talk with your local feed store.

  2. Step 2

Prepare the mash in a separate bucket from the rest of the regular feed.

  3. Step 3

Mix bran mash with some warm water to make it soggy. Use just enough water to cover up the bran.

  4. Step 4

Allow the bran to set for at least five minutes to absorb the water and make a good mash. Otherwise you will just be feeding dry bran floating in water.

  5. Step 5

Stir in any supplements or medicines that you need to administer to your horse.

  6. Step 6

Feed the mash either separate from or on top of the regular feed.
