It's important that you buy the correct size air conditioner so that it will cool off the room you are going to install it in. I have outlined a few steps below that you should follow.

Measure the length and width of the room and multiply the two numbers together to obtain the square feet of the room.

  2. Step 2

Measure the size of the opening that you are going to install the AC into.

  3. Step 3
    120V outlet

    120V outlet

Determine that there is an outlet close by and whether it's 120V or 220V.

  4. Step 4

Go to a large appliance store and tell the sales person how many square feet your room is. He will tell you how BTU's you will need to cool off the room properly.

  5. Step 5

Look for one with a high EER (Energy Efficient Rating) and the BTU rating you need. The higher the EER the more you will save in electricity cost. Also make sure it has the proper voltage either 120V or 220V

Tips & Warnings
  • Your typical ac outlet is going to be 120 volts in most cases.
