Things You'll Need:
- Time to do research
- A network of friends, family and co-workers
- The Internet or phone book
- A newspaper
-
Step 1
Be sure to ask friends, family members and co-workers about wedding planners that they may have used. Find out whether or not they liked the wedding planner that they used and if they feel as though they benefited from using one. This can give you a really good idea of what wedding planners you may want to use, as well as what ones you may want to avoid.
-
Step 2
Find out if wedding venue can recommend a wedding planner. Of course, this is assuming that you have chosen a wedding venue already. Since many wedding venues tend to work closely with one or more wedding planners, you will probably be able to choose one that will work the best with you. The fact that they are familiar with the wedding venue will also work to your benefit.
-
Step 3
Look in the local Sunday newspaper advertisements. Many wedding planners will be sure to run deals on their services. Be sure to look well in advance, as you will not want to waste until the last moment. This is especially true if your wedding is going to be sometime between the months of May and October, which is the most common time for weddings.
-
Step 4
Check out the phone book or Internet for telephone numbers or websites of wedding planners in the area. Although this may seem like the easiest route to go, it is important to keep in mind that it can also be the most difficult, since you have no knowledge of the wedding planners. Even advertisements will provide you with more information, as they will likely provide rates. Be sure to call several local wedding planners to ask questions about rates and other details if you want to find the one that will be the best suited for you.
