How to put out a grease fire in your kitchen
Many people don't know what to do in the event of a grease fire in the kitchen. First instinct is to pour water on it, but that is the worst move you can make. The water reacts with the oil and can shoot hot grease and flames into your face. Please read over these steps and watch the video link on YouTube to put out a grease fire properly. Immediately turn off the heat.

Wet a kitchen towel under the kitchen faucet and wring it out so it's not dripping.

Approach the stove while leaning back to keep your face away from potential flames and hot grease splatter. Extend your arms and carefully cover the fire with the towel to smother the flames. Wait for the fire to go out and don't touch the area until it cools.

I've used flour, baking soda, salt, to smother the flames, but this sounds much more practical and less messy. Thanks for the great tip! -

I've used salt, flour and baking soda for smothering grease fires, but the wet towel sounds like a better idea. Great article!
