With proper care, your speaker will last a long time

Stereo speakers are often the centerpiece of home audio systems. They also require careful care to ensure a long life. Use these tips to keep your speakers from burning out.

From Quick Guide: Stereo Systems for Beginners
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Carefully read the manufacturer's instructions for recommended distance between speakers. Speakers placed too close together can cause a host of issues, such as interference. Space them as wide apart as you can and still maintain desired audio penetration.

  2. Step 2

Periodically use an anti-static cloth or similar wipe to clear debris and dust from the surface of the speaker, including any open enclosures. Do not use any liquids during cleaning.

  3. Step 3

Powered speaker systems are subject to electrical surges. Protect your system by plugging the AC power source into a surge protector. Unplug the system when not using it for an extended period of time.

  4. Step 4

If you notice any significant change in sound output from your speaker system, immediately unplug it and bring it in for repair. Ultimately, your own sense of sound is the greatest deterrent against speaker damage.
