It is possible to do feed a family of four on 10 dollars a week. For this go ahead and use the food you have in your house as a starting point. I have done this from scratch as an exercise to prove a point. Your family may view you as a mean evil dictator. Beware.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Discipline
  • 10 dollars
Step1
Since you have food in your house already, take inventory of what you have and sort your food according to staples, beverages, and junk foods. This will be your baseline. If done properly your baseline will grow in the area of staples. It will shrink in beverages and junk foods.
Step2
Locate all of the bakery thrift stores, wholesale food outlets, in your area. I don't mean a cheap grocery store. You will not be buying any beverages or junk foods. 10 Dollars will purchase enough dry goods and bread from the thrift stores to adequately feed a family of four for one week. In fact you should be able to begin to stock pile dry goods. Enjoy your left over junk foods and beverages judicially. They will not last forever. Purchase your dry beans and rice to provide for a balanced diet. You will drink water.
Step3
Eat properly, do not pig out and you will be fine. Maybe even get back in shape and detoxify in the process. Societies through out the world live healthy lives on this diet. By the fifth week you should have accumulated enough extra in the previous four weeks to be able to carefully expand your food purchases. Remember, no beverages, no junk foods, fast foods, pre-made foods, tv dinners and do not shop at the local expensive grocery stores.
