Step 1
Focus on your reality. Make a list of what you like about your
life and what you would like to accomplish during it. Scoring a date with
George Clooney should be low on your list of priorities since it's not
exactly grounded in reality. Reality should be the main focus here. -
Step 2
Stay away from the media. Resist the urge to flip through the glossy
pages of gossip magazines or check out the highlights on the latest
entertainment "news" shows. Feeding the addiction is not going to help you
overcome it. -
Step 3
Avoid talking about them. If you're constantly sharing your fantasies of how you're going to sweep Britney Spears off her feet, you're either going to make your friends and family wonder about you, or you're simply going to be feeding your addiction even further. Don't talk about them. They are not part of your reality, so why should they be popping up in conversation?
-
Step 4
Find new hobbies and interests. For one, get out of the house and do something. Feeding on celebrity entertainment isn't exactly fulfilling. Find something else that gets you excited about your life.
-
Step 5
Put things into perspective. Really, the odds of regular Joe Schmo
getting together with Hollywood's most recent "It" girl are not something to be betting on. Realize that, accept it and move on.
