Fresh pineapple is tasty and good for you, but trying to pick one to buy at the store can be intimidating at first. Choosing a pineapple doesn’t have to be difficult, however. Just look at the pineapple closely and you will be able to see whether or not the fruit is one you should buy. Does this Spark an idea?

      Smell the pineapple. The fruit should smell sweet at the stem end. Avoid pineapples that smell sour or musty.

      Pull on the leaves at the top of the pineapple. If the leaves easily come loose, it means the pineapple is ready to eat.

      Check the color. Look for a bright yellow color and watch out for any brown or black spots. When the pineapple has spots, it’s best not to buy it.
