How to Live in Peace in a Haunted House

While most people want the spirits removed from a home, it is possible to live in peace in a haunted house. First, you should make sure that the presence is willing to share the house, and then you need to make sure your family is up to the challenge. With a bit of patience and some careful planning, you may be able to coexist with your ghost.

    Instructions

      • 1

Discover the reason for the haunting. The more research you do, the better informed you will be to create peace in your home. The spirit may be there to protect something or may feel it has a claim to portions of the home.

      • 2

Ask ghost hunters to help you investigate the strange occurrences. They may find a natural cause or determine what the supernatural being wants. These ghost hunters do not remove the spirits, but help you research the haunting.

      • 3

Start talking to your family members and everyone who lives in the house. Often a haunting begins when something else is going on with the inhabitants of a home. There may be unexpressed anger or anxiety that is opening a channel to a spirit. By working through these problems, you may calm the ghosts.

      • 4

Communicate with the spirits that are living in the haunted house. You should try talking to them, asking them why they are in the house and what they want. You may need to hire a medium to do the talking if the ghosts aren't responding.

      • 5

State firmly that the house is yours and you plan on staying. This may anger the presence in your home, which means you probably need to have it removed. By taking claim on your home, you are establishing your right to be there. Don't make threats or act angrily, just state your intentions calmly.

      • 6

Set boundaries for your spiritual roommates. Letting a ghost spy on you in the shower or touch you exceeds normal boundaries. Consider having the ghost removed if it continually makes you feel uncomfortable.

      • 7

Get used to the noises that go bump in the night (or during the day). If you want to live in peace with your ghost, you must grow comfortable with creaking boards, slamming doors, breaking glass and other things that might happen. While you may not experience all of these incidents, you must learn to ignore whatever is going on in your home.

      • 8

Live your life in respect of the spirits in the haunted house. You shouldn't remodel areas without discussing it first, letting the ghosts know what is happening. If you have original pieces of the house that the spirit may be attached to, keep them in good shape and avoid removing them.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Keep a journal of all the supernatural occurrences in your house. Include the date and time of the event, witness statements and as many details as you can. This will help any investigators that you hire when they first enter the home.

    • Don't try to live in peace with a malevolent poltergeist or spirit. You will not win, and it will never give up terrorizing you or instilling fear. You should have the spirit removed or move yourself.

Why would I want to have the ghost removed from my haunted house if I lived in it? I would never do that, and would never say to them this is mine or his or her house. I would let them know that they shouldn't bother me while I'm sleeping and that I needed some sleep. There are good ghosts, or sexy ghost I love to have that I can communicate with. What's wrong with all those people who are so scared, claiming their house and want the ghosts to leave? I don't understand.
