StarCraft consists of warfare between three different species: Terrans, Zergs and Protoss. There are 30 missions in all to conquer throughout the three species. You must lead your species to victory by maintaining resources to build an army.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the single player mode or Battle.net for multiplayer mode.

  2. Step 2

Choose a player identification. The first time you play StarCraft, you will be prompted to create an ID. Use this ID to continue at a saved progress.

  3. Step 3

Choose which campaign you wish to play. The Terran, Zerg or Protoss campaigns follow missions of the particular species. A StarCraft tutorial level is available in the Terran campaign.

  4. Step 4

Set up your outpost. Your outpost consists of a Command Center, a Supply Depot, a group of soldiers and a space construction vehicle (SCV) in the main screen along with a certain number of resources.

  5. Step 5

Build as many SCVs as possible while maintaining enough resources. An SCV will construct buildings and gather resources.

  6. Step 6

Construct buildings only in designated areas. After you choose a building, a green-tinted image will appear to let you know how much space is required for construction.

  7. Step 7

Explore the unmapped area. You can order your SCVs to explore any of the darken region on the by highlighting them, selecting the "Move" button in the command console and clicking the target area in the main screen or map in the left hand corner.

  8. Step 8

Gather resources to keep up your reserves. There are two main resources that you collect: minerals from fields and vespene gas from green geysers. You will be able to instruct your SCVs to harvest any resources you encounter from the command console, however you will need to construct an extractor before stockpile vespene gas.

  9. Step 9

Practice micromanagement in the tutorial level in the Terran campaign. StarCraft requires army units to move into certain formations and maneuvering in battle while simultaneously using their different abilities and numbers. Your odds of victory in battle significantly increase with micromanaging.
