How to Locate Wedding Toast Samples

A wedding toast can be one of the most nerve-wracking things you'll ever have to write. You may have heard dozens of wedding toasts in your lifetime, but you probably won't be able to remember them very well unless you had your video camera handy at the time. Of course, there are many places where you can locate samples of the perfect wedding toast, and you can either borrow the toast as it is or combine different lines from several toasts to create something truly unique.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate online wedding toast samples. There are hundreds of sites available that have wedding toast samples to suit any situation. ForeverWed, a Christian-based bridal magazine, has numerous examples and TopWeddingSites.com has several samples as well as links to others (see Resources below).

    • 2

Purchase a book, such as "The Complete Book of Wedding Toasts" by John William McCluskey or "Toasts: Over 1,500 Of the Best Toasts, Sentiments, Blessings, and Graces" by Paul Dickson, from Amazon.com (see Resources below). These books offer sample toasts as well as healthy doses of encouragement for nervous speechmakers.

    • 3

Contact the wedding planner that the bride and groom have hired. The wedding planner should not only have tons of samples available for you to review, but she should also be able to recommend a wedding toast that will fit perfectly with the occasion.

    • 4

Ask about wedding toast samples at your local fine-stationery store. Most of these stores have catalogs full of invitations and other wedding-related stationery, and these companies often have brochures or other literature available with toast samples.

    • 5

Talk to the pastor of the church. Pastors are often asked to give toasts at these events as well, so they may be able to locate a few samples for you.

    • 6

Contact the DJ who will be performing at the reception. Occasionally, a DJ will offer up a quick, casual toast to the bride and groom, so he may have some written down in his scripts.

    • 7

Locate wedding toast resources on a website like the Wedding Speech and Toast Tips site (see Resources below). This site provides links to other sites that offer samples, books or instruction.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you don't reuse a toast that most people have already heard.
