One of the quickest, easiest and least expensive ways to share your wedding photos with your friends and family members is to put them online. This is a great way to use the convenience of the Internet to show your wedding guests and those who could not be at the wedding your favorite memories from your big day. There are a few simple things you will want to consider as you put your wedding photos online to make the process as efficient and organized as possible.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital camera or photo scanner
  • Photo editing software
  1. Step 1

Choose an online photo sharing service to host your wedding photos. There are a variety of these services available online, most of which are free of cost and allow you to create online photo albums that you can then share with others simply by sharing a link to them, including Picasa, Shutterfly and Photobucket (see Resources below). Most of these sites offer a limited amount of storage memory for photos, though in most cases this will be plenty of space to store all of your wedding photos with no difficulty.

  2. Step 2

Upload your favorite wedding photos to your personal computer using your digital camera's USB (universal serial bus) connection cord or by scanning them to your computer using a photo scanner. If you do not have access to a photo scanner, most pharmacies and photo-developing services can transfer your photos to CD or disk format, making them viewable and editable on your computer.

  3. Step 3

Use your computer's basic photo editing software, such as Apple's iPhoto or Microsoft's Picture Manager to crop and resize your wedding photos before uploading them. These programs are generally included with the basic software on your computer and are designed to be easy to use for even beginners. Not all photos will need to be cropped, but if there are large amounts of blank space in any of your images, feel free to crop them out to put the main focus on the people in the photo.

  4. Step 4

Scan or develop your wedding photos with a setting of at least 200 dpi (dots per inch). While 72 dpi is suitable for displaying photos on websites, 200 dpi is the minimum photo resolution you will need to be able to create high-quality prints from these images. Be aware that image files at 200 dpi or higher resolution will be larger and therefore will take longer to upload.

  5. Step 5

Add captions to your wedding photos if you desire, such as the names of the people in the photos or other information. Most online photo sharing services allow this option as a way to guide your visitors through your online photo albums.

  6. Step 6

Email the link to your online wedding photo album to your friends and family members to allow them to view it.

Tips & Warnings
  • When uploading your wedding photos to the Internet you will need to have a strong, steady Internet connection. It is best to have a cable connection speed at minimum, as dial-up connections will most likely require far too much waiting time to transfer the files.
