Step 1
Decide how much effort you want to put into your wedding album design. Some software is designed to be used very simply, by dragging digital photos into pre-selected slots and selecting basic backgrounds from a list of existing patterns. Other types are very elaborate, which gives you a lot more options, but requires a lot more skill and time.
-
Step 2
Determine whether you want a bound hard-copy version of your wedding album. You can always arrange for one separate from a digital album, but some software is available which will let you create a high-quality printout as well as a solely electronic version. If you want an album that is more than just printouts from your computer, select software which will enable that and make sure that your printer or photographer can use the software you select.
-
Step 3
Decide whether you want photos alone in your album or whether you want to mix them with montages, music and/or video footage. Wedding software such as Wedding Album Maker will allow you to bring multimedia elements into your album, and to burn it onto a DVD-ROM, which will allow you to play it in your home theater system (see Resources below). Not all software can do that, however, so if it appeals to you, you should definitely check first.
-
Step 4
Check whether the software you select operates alongside more generalized image-alteration software. Image Designer.com specializes in good-quality templates for software, but depends on Adobe Photoshop to do it (see Resources below). If you wish to use software such as this, make sure you know the other software it uses and have copies of that software installed on your computer.
-
Step 5
Make sure the software will enable you to post online. Online posting is a great way to share your wedding album with guests who live far away or who weren't able to come to the ceremony. Biography Software makes an easy-to-use wedding album program that will allow you to post your album online (see Resources below).
