If writing is your career or you are trying to make it your career, I have outlined 10 step process below that will help you in you endeavors.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Networking is essential to your writing success. If your ignore it you will eventually suffer the consequences.

  2. Step 2

    Learn to work under pressure. Pros can’t wait to be inspired. When you have a deadline to meet you must meet it if you want to survive in this business.

  3. Step 3

    Make sure you have a portfolio of at least five to eight sizeable articles so that you can show off your writing skills.

  4. Step 4

    Read something every day from some great writers. Try to analyze the writer’s methods of writing the article to get some idea of format, expression, etc

  5. Step 5

    Write something every day even if your have writers block.

  6. Step 6

    Make friends with other writers to seek out ideas, skills and other attributes.

  7. Step 7

    When it’s time to turn in your first article make sure it has been edited for spelling and grammar.

  8. Step 8

    Study every aspect of the publisher before you make a proposal.

  9. Step 9

    Find a mentor who’s a successful writer and can teach you the tricks of the trade.

  10. Step 10

    Don’t get lazy, stay persistent in your writing and search for work.
