How to Open the Secret Cow Level in Diablo II

In the original Diablo game, there was a false rumor of a secret Cow level. But Blizzard heard this rumor and actually included a hilarious Secret Cow Level in the sequel, Diablo 2. Learn how to enjoy it with this simple guide!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

1. Kill Diablo to open the next difficulty level. If you have the Lord of Destruction expansion, you will also need to kill Baal.
2. Rather than advancing to the new difficulty, return to the difficulty level you just completed. Go to the Stony Field waypoint and find the circle of stones, then take the portal to Tristram.
3. Once in Tristram, walk to the upper left where you will find Wirt's Corpse. Click on it, and after it throws up many small piles of gold, it will also produce Wirt's Leg. Take the leg.
4. Return to the Rogue Encampment and purchase a Tome of Town Portal from Akara. Place Wirt's Leg and the Tome of Town Portal into your Horadric Cube, and press the Transmute button.
5. There are many angry cows inside, so be careful if you step through. But it's certainly worth peeking in just to hear the mad mooing.

Tips & Warnings

• Area damage spells are a must in the cow level. Corpse explosion is particularly useful.
• Do not kill the Cow King, or you will be unable to make the portal again on that difficulty level.
