Making a hanging pipe rack is a good way to keep a pipe collection organized and accessible without taking up a lot of space. Many pipe smokers have a large collection of pipes in their smoking rotation, and this hanging pipe rack will hold 40 or more pipes. You can make one with readily available inexpensive parts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Go to the houseware department of any hardware or department store and find a coated rectangular cooling rack approximately 11 inches wide by 16 inches long. These racks are designed to cool bread, cakes, pies, casseroles and other hot dishes and come in assorted colors including black, white, red and chrome.
Step2
Determine where you want to hang your pipe rack. It can be on a wall in your house or office or on the back wall of a display cabinet.
Step3
Make two marks on the wall approximately 9 inches apart. Use a level to be sure the marks are the same height. Screw two cup hooks in at the marks so the open side of the hooks are up.
Step4
Hang the rack on the hooks vertically so the cross bars on the rack run parallel to the floor. The feet on the rack will be against the wall and hold the rack about half an inch from the wall surface.
Step5
Insert the stem of the first row of pipes between the first and second cross bars. Hang straight stem pipes with the bowls up and bent stem pipes with the bowl down. Space the pipes so you can hang five or six rows on the rack.
