If you work full-time, yet your bills are tight, this article will provide you with a few ideas on how to make supplemental income. Do you wish you had discretionary funds on hand? Do you desire to take a vacation?

  1. Step 1

    Write articles for the local newspaper. They often need stringer writers or freelance writers to fill in during times when interns are not available.

    Consider creating a photography portfolio

    Put your camera to use either for the local paper or a magazine. Magazines typically pay higher amounts per photo, but the paper will provide an avenue to get your feet wet. Typically they will send you to specific events.

    Rate a restaurant

    Be a food or restaurant critic by signing up on the internet. Sometimes this role is called a secret shopper. You are often asked to rate local businesses on a specific date. It does not pay much, but you can often make a few small bucks and get a free meal.

    Take your favorite hobby and look for ways to make money doing that - putting your talents to use for profit. For example, if you enjoy paintings, try to find a gallery to display your work. If a crafts person, find a craft show.

    Check your local campuses for art models. That is, oftentimes art classes are looking for persons to be figure models.

    Check the classified ads in your local paper. See if there is a temporary job that you can fill. Sometimes this is especially helpful if it is a work-from-home job.

    Check the internet for people who are willing to pay you to blog. Writing can really pay off!

    If you have a talent in drawing - offer to draw caractures of people. Maybe you could even run an add in the paper - it may be worth the cost.

  • No matter what you are applying for - watch your grammar usage and spelling
  • Watch for scams - if it sounds too good...it is probably too good to be true!

on 3/10/2008 Thanks for the tips, I've been writing online for a couple sites since August, and haven't made as much as I hoped. :( I'm hanging in there though, and lucky for me I love to write anyway.
