Things You'll Need:
- Schedule/ Planning Book
- Children's Book
- Comfortable Room for the child.
-
Step 1
Begin with a consistent schedule that will allow your child enough time to do there daily themed activities (Shower, Eating, etc). Make sure you and your child comfortable. Also, in your schedule/planner list your goals you hope to accomplish with your child.
-
Step 2
Create a comfortable environment, since many children are afraid of the dark, use a nightlight to make sure their room is well lighted and not too dark. Also make sure the temperature of the room is comfortable for the child. Also, remember to talk to your child, to find out what's on his or hers mind. They could use bed-time to get one on one time with you. This should be a great night for you and your child.
-
Step 3
Make the bedtime experience exciting and relaxing: Bedtime should be a relaxing part of the day for your children. Make the experience with activities that include reading a favorite bedtime story, talking with your child about his or her day or singing your child a lullaby, or playing a sleeping role before bedtime or watching an educational movie.

on 9/17/2008 very good article. These are all things I have been trying to do with my children consistently. When I do them, they tend to stay in bed and fall asleep a lot quicker.

on 8/17/2008 My children run me ragged most days and I always look forward to bedtime. Usually bath time is part of the nightly routine. It helps to wind them down. Every night is not story night, but when I do read it seems to be helpful. The one-on-one can be hard when there are five of them, but I think bedtime would be an excellent time for that. Good pointers.
