How to Create a Stained-Glass Window Hanger
This is a great wintertime project for kids. Use some of those broken crayons to make neat window decorations.

- Crayons
- Irons
- Nontoxic Glues
- String Or Yarns
- Used Wrapping Papers
- Waxed Paper
- Graters
- Scissors
- Pencils
- Construction Paper
- Paper Punch
- Poster Boards
- X-Acto Knives

Gather materials. (See the product list below.)

Use a hole punch to make confetti from colored paper or wrapping paper.

Grate broken pieces of crayon.

Mix the crayon shavings and confetti together.

Cut a 6-inch-by-12-inch piece of waxed paper.

Sprinkle the crayon-confetti mix over half of the waxed paper.

Fold the other half of the waxed paper over the mix.

Heat iron.

Iron the waxed paper lightly to melt the crayon pieces.

Draw a window frame shape on poster board.

Cut two identical pieces.

Place the waxed paper stained-glass window between the two pieces of poster board.

Glue the sides of the poster board together.

Punch a hole in the top of the stained-glass window hanger.

Add yarn or string to hang.

Tips & Warnings
Let the kids make a solar oven to melt their wax in instead of using an iron. (See Related eHows.)
Trace cookie-cutter shapes on poster board. Cut a circle in the center of two identical cookie cutter cutout shapes and place your stained glass between them.
Small children should not use the iron to melt the wax.
