This is a great wintertime project for kids. Use some of those broken crayons to make neat window decorations.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Gather materials. (See the product list below.)
Step2
Use a hole punch to make confetti from colored paper or wrapping paper.
Step3
Grate broken pieces of crayon.
Step4
Mix the crayon shavings and confetti together.
Step5
Cut a 6-inch-by-12-inch piece of waxed paper.
Step6
Sprinkle the crayon-confetti mix over half of the waxed paper.
Step7
Fold the other half of the waxed paper over the mix.
Step8
Heat iron.
Step9
Iron the waxed paper lightly to melt the crayon pieces.
Step10
Draw a window frame shape on poster board.
Step11
Cut two identical pieces.
Step12
Place the waxed paper stained-glass window between the two pieces of poster board.
Step13
Glue the sides of the poster board together.
Step14
Punch a hole in the top of the stained-glass window hanger.
Step15
Add yarn or string to hang.

Tips & Warnings

  • Let the kids make a solar oven to melt their wax in instead of using an iron. (See Related eHows.)
  • Trace cookie-cutter shapes on poster board. Cut a circle in the center of two identical cookie cutter cutout shapes and place your stained glass between them.
  • Small children should not use the iron to melt the wax.
