How to Reuse a Shower Curtain as a Window Treatment

Reusing cloth shower curtains makes sense in any number of ways. It saves money and you are able to use a design that you like, but that is not commercially available for windows. Follow these simple steps to create a window treatment from a fabric shower curtain.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Fabric shower curtain
• Sewing machine
• Thread
• Scissors
• Shower curtain hooks
• Curtain rod kit

1. Fold the existing shower curtain once vertically and cut in half along the fold.

2. Hem the raw (cut) edges.

3. Install curtain rod, place hooks on reconfigured curtains and hang on window.

Tips & Warnings

• Instead of standard plastic shower curtain hooks, look in stores for more decorative hooks that you are now free to use because the curtains are no longer near water.
• Be sure to measure the length of the curtain and see if any alterations are necessary or wanted. In that case, leave an extra inch along the bottom cut for hemming.
