Video sharing web sites are becoming more popular all the time. Many people have realized that uploading videos to these sites can be a powerful advertising method, as long as that video is viral and is marked with your logo or URL. Many people wonder how to add their logo to one of the videos they have on their hard drive. This guide will teach you how to brand a video with your logo (or URL) using Avidemux, which is a free video editing software program.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Copy of Avidemux software, which is available for free.
  • Video in any file format (FLV, AVI, WMV, MPG)
  • Logo image saved in PNG file format.

Step1
Click the "Open" button Open the Avidemux software and click the "Open" folder icon to browse to the location of the video you wish to add your logo to. Once there, double click on the video file name to open it.
Step2
Go to Video Filters Look at the menu links that go across the top of the screen. Click on the "Video" menu tab, and then click on "Filters." A new window will open that allows you to manage your video filters.
Step3
Add your logo Click on the "Misc" tab and then double click on "Logo." A box will open that allows you to select the image file you wish to use and to also select the X, Y coordinates of the file. We will deal with coordinates in a moment. For now, just click "Browse" to surf to the location of your logo file and once selected, click "OK."
Step4
Make initial adjustments Adjust the logo's placement. Click the "Configure" button to reopen the window that allows you to adjust the X, Y coordinates of the logo. X adjusts the horizontal position of the logo, while Y adjusts the vertical position. There is also an option for "Alpha," which controls how opaque the image is. The lower the Alpha number, the more faded and translucent the logo will appear. Make your initial adjustments and then click “OK.”
Step5
Preview your logo Click the "Preview" button to see how the logo looks in the new position. The preview screen allows you to go through the video, frame by frame, to make sure everything is just the way you want it. If further adjustments are needed, just click the "Configure" button again and make changes. If no further changes are needed, just close the preview window and click the "Close" button to return to the main Avidemux screen.
Step6
Change Input to Output Return to the main screen and look for the pulldown menu that says "Input." Click the down arrow next to this and select the option that says "Output." This will show you what your finished video will be.
Step7
Set your Auto config Look at the menu links at the top of the screen. Find the link that says "Auto" and click that, then select the option that best suits how you will use the video. For videos intended for online distribution, select FLV. This will automatically give your video the optimum configuration for use online.
Step8
Save your video output Look for the "File" menu link at the top of the screen. Click "File," then click "Save," then click "Save Video." This will open a new video for your save file options.
Step9
Choose your file name and format Type yourfilename.avi in the "File" area at the top of the screen. AVI is a recommended file extension because it is universally compatible with all media players. Then look for the pull down menu at the bottom of the screen that says "All." Click that menu and select "AVI" so that your video will be encoded to that format. All that is left now is to click "OK" and wait for your new video to be encoded.
