Things You'll Need:
- paper towels
- tap water
-
Step 1
Your stove must be cool (without a fire or any embers burning) to do this process. First take some moist paper towels and dip them into the "white ash" inside the stove. Get a generous amount of the white ash onto the moist paper towels.
-
Step 2
Next, rub the white ash that is on the moist paper towel onto the glass in a circular motion. Repeat this step until the entire glass surface is covered.
-
Step 3
Next, with a wet paper towel, wipe off the glass completely removing all the white ash.
-
Step 4
Lastly, with a dry paper towel, dry the glass.

on 9/9/2009 Exactly as we have done it for the last 6/7 years and our fireplace was not very well built , no dog leg up chimney . We are about to fit a free standing cast iron stove but will use this method of cleaning the glass - it works!
