    Things You'll Need

    • Ice cube
    • Styptic pencil
    • Antibiotic ointment
    • Bandage
    • Witch hazel
      • 1

Press an ice cube on the nick for two minutes. Press firmly and use a towel to hold the ice in place. Dab an antibiotic ointment on the nick.

      • 2

Apply a small bandage to the nick, unless it is on your face. If the nick is on your face, apply a bit of witch hazel with a tissue, using firm pressure.

Keep a styptic pencil on-hand for shaving nicks. When the styptic pencil is applied, it does not sting, irritate or cause stains on clothing. It can stop the bleeding quickly.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If your skin is dry, it is more likely to get nicked during shaving. Use a daily moisturizer to keep skin soft.

    • Prevent nicks by using a good moisturizing shaving cream or gel.

    • Never use a dull razor since it will be more likely to cut you than a new razor.
