When you get a new battery drain it all the way before charging. Take it from fully charged to completely empty 3 times in a row. Rechargeable batteries build up a memory. Make the battery use it's full power, or it will lose the ability to charge all the way.

While charging the phone be sure it is off. Never talk on the phone while it charges.

Don't leave the phone on the charger too long. Be sure to disconnect it from the charger once the battery is fully charged. This will prevent the battery cells from expanding.
Tips & Warnings
If your take you battery out and can spin it on the counter this means that you battery's cell has begun to expand. You will need to replace the battery soon.

Your article is very good one but i think it will be best if you you add these :
1.Stop searching for a signal. When you are in an area with poor or no signal, your phone will constantly look for a better connection, and will use up all your power doing so, turn off your phone on these occassions.
2.Switch off the vibrate function on your phone, and use just the ring tone instead. The vibrate function uses up a lot of battery power.
3.Turn off your phone's back light. The back light is what makes the phone easier to read in bright light or outside.
4.Regardless of the battery type, use only a charger rated for your battery, and discontinue use of a charger that causes the battery to heat up excessively.
5.Flash photography can drain your battery especially quickly. If your phone has bluetooth capability, disable it when not in use.
