How to Make Your Own Book

There is nothing more satisfying in life than taking on the task of book making. The opportunity to create a book with your own designs and likeness makes this experience a lesson in self-exploration. Read on to learn how to make your own book.

Things You’ll Need:

• Two equally cut cardboard squares
• Parchment pages
• Hole puncher
• 1/2 inch ribbons
• Calligraphy pen
• Glitter pens
• Stencils
• Artist sponge
• Colored ink
• Glue
• Scissors

1. Cut your cardboard papers to the size of the book you want. Decide how many pages you want your book to contain. Cut the parchment papers to the exact size of the cardboard covers.
2. Glue the pages to the cardboard covers. Back and front. Allow to dry for two hours.
3. Once the cardboard covers and parchment papers have been dried. Punch three holes on the left side of your book.
4. Cut three small pieces of the ribbons you have selected. Make sure it's enough to tie a bow. Insert a piece of ribbon in each hole and tie a knot. Repeat this procedure twice. You should have three bows holding your book together.

Tips & Warnings

• Once your book has been bound together by ribbons begin decorating.
• Use stencils to create designs or words.
• Color the words with a glitter pen.
• Making tie-dye designs with a sponge blotted in ink on the cover is a unique way to make your book stand out.
• Once your book is completed, add poetry, creative writing or use the book as a journal.
• Remember to give your artwork time to dry.
