Step1
Be sure to turn your cell phone ringer off. This will prevent you from being woken up by phone calls or text messages. Even leaving your phone on vibrate will probably cause you to wake up. Tell close friends or family members that they should only call your house phone in the case of an emergency.
Step2
Turn off the television. Not only may the light from the screen wake you up, but the sound may also wake you up. Some people feel that they need to fall asleep with the television on. If this is the case, be sure to set your television on a sleep timer.
Step3
Never leave your computer monitor on while you sleep. Even if you choose to leave the computer on, turn the monitor off so that the light will not wake you up. Be sure to turn the sound off as well. You do not want to get woken up by the sound of an error, instant message or any other noises that may be considered sleep disturbances.
Step4
Walk pets before you go to sleep. This should help ensure that they do not need to be walked during the night. Doing this daily will help get them into the routine of not waking you up and will ultimately help you avoid potential sleep disturbances.
