Many people like to let loose and have some fun, and in doing so drink too much. In the morning they have a nasty hangover. Here are a few tips to prevent or avoid a hangover.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • ibuprofen
  • water
  • bananas
  • prickly pear cactus extract

Step1
IF you know that you are going to go out drinking with your friends be ready. About four hours before you start drinking pop some prickly pear cactus extract; follow the directions on the bottle. Taking this will reduce dry mouth and nausea.
Step2
Watch what you are drinking! Darker drinks bring on worse hangovers. Cocktails with caffeine are very dehydrating and cause those horrible headaches. While you are drinking sip water throughout, dehydration is the main reason for hangovers. Match your alcohol intake with water and this will keep you hydrated.
Step3
Just before you pass out or go to sleep pop two ibuprofen. If you have been drinking your favorite drink and it happens to be a dark drink you can lessen the next morning agony by just taking some ibuprofen.
Step4
Make sure that if you are going out on the town that you don't have anything important to do the next day. Studies show that the simple act of sleeping in can alleviate hangover symptoms. Just sleep for an hour or two extra.
Step5
I know that it's hard to eat the morning after late night of drinking. But if you can manage to get a banana in you this will restore your potassium levels (which are depleted during drinking), this will regulate your blood sugar and get rid of that dizzy tired feeling.

on 3/29/2008 Your comment about the banana the next morning is one I've heard before. Sound advise, and a good idea.

on 3/10/2008 I rarely get a drink, but when I do, no matter how much I drink, I get a massive hangover. I'll try this next time. :)
