How to Prepare Italian Style Liver & Onions

I know most people turn their nose up when it comes to liver and onions. Believe me I know I did the same thing. My mother-in-law introduced me to this recipe and now I won't eat liver any other way.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 ½ lbs. liver (beef, lamb, veal, chicken)
  • ½ cup of flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 2 medium size onions (2/3 lb.) (thinly sliced)
  • 5 to 8 strips of bacon (cut 1” Pieces)
  • 2/3 cup of sweet wine

Step1
Cut liver into serving size pieces, then coat with flour, salt, garlic, and pepper. Set aside.
Step2
Heat olive oil in skillet and sauté onions until cooked. (clear). Set aside. In the same skillet add liver and brown on both sides over medium heat.
Step3
Replace onions and bacon in skillet with liver and add sweet wine. Bring to boil and cook 1 minute and serve.

4-5 Servings

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also substitute liver with calf,lamb or beef.
