delegate tasks to others

Delegation is an important part of an effective manager. if you want something done right then you must delegate according to what each person can handle.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

There are some basic steps that you must learn to delegate properly. If you are a new manager it is easy to be intimidated by using the delegation process. in the end though you will suffer the consequences if tasks are not performed properly.

Here are some steps to keep in mind ~

  2. Step 2

    1. Speak clearly about the results that you want. Make sure that you are clear about what you expect and let them know if they have ANY questions then they should approach you so you may clarify.

    2. Set a time limit. Make sure that they are aware of the time period in which you need to have the task finished. Make sure that they do not put it off until another day, that it has to be finished by the deadline.

  3. Step 3

    3. Delegate accordingly. If you know that one team member is better at a certain task then delegate it to that person. If you are unsure then ask your workers who is best at each thing. Getting their input prior to delegating tasks will give them a period in which they can participate and step up to a task they choose.

  4. Step 4

    4. Delegate authority to one to have them supervise the tasks. You can rotate the authority often if you choose. Allowing others to help you with your authority will give them a chance to oversee anything that you may have missed and help keep you on track.

  5. Step 5

It may be more work for you in the beginning as you learn to properly delegate, but be sure in the end it will lessen your workload. It takes time and patience to learn the proper process that will work for your team.
