Holy Week is perhaps the most important week of the year for worshipers of Christ. It can also be somewhat of a confusing time for your kids if they don't know about the history regarding the week. Here is how you can talk about Holy Week to your kids.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read the Gospel chapters regarding Holy Week with your kids. The Bible is the best place to start when it comes to the events surrounding Holy Week. Read these passages with your kids and be ready to answer any questions they may have.

  2. Step 2

Watch a G or PG movie with your kids that depicts the events of Holy Week with your children. Remember that Holy Week, especially Good Friday, can be graphic for your kids. You'll want to stay away from those movies that are too in-depth regarding Christ's Passion when giving your kids more information about Holy Week.

  3. Step 3

Take your kids to church services with you during Holy Week. These services can broaden your kids' understanding of what Holy Week is about and also help them see how important and sacred the week is to your faith.

  4. Step 4

Explain to your kids the difference between Holy Week and Easter Sunday. Your kids may be troubled about the events and services of Holy Week. Remind them that Holy Week isn't the end but only the beginning of the whole story.

  5. Step 5

Tell your kids about the ties between Holy Week and prophecies found in the Old Testament. Your kids may not understand why Christ had to go through all that he did during Holy Week. Explaining the prophecies to your kids will give them a better understanding.

on 4/7/2009 Good ideas. My first grader is in public school (my others went to Catholic school), and it's challenging to teach her about Easter on terms she can understand.
