Have you ever worn a hairdo that you thought would make you look good, only to discover that it actually made your head “too big” or that you looked slightly “off”? Do you cringe when you see recent or past pictures of yourself? Well, fret no more. Help is on the way:

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Knowledge of your particular face shape (it's easy to figure out-simply pull your hair back and trace your facial outline in the mirror).

Step1
Totally balanced 1.For An Oval Face-This is considered the “perfect” face shape. You can wear your hair in just about any style (Lucky you, huh?), including a jaw-length bob, or a shoulder-length ‘do. However, you shouldn’t wear super-long hair. Why? Because it will make an oval face look too long and narrow. And you wouldn’t want to alter the perfect face shape now, would you?
Step2
People with this shape may be all heart! 2. For Those Heart-Shaped Faces, your best look would be longer layers or wavy styles that fall past your chin and/or a shoulder-length blunt cut with graduated, face-framing layers. You should avoid short, cropped cuts or any slicked-back styles because they’ll make your forehead appear wider and your chin more pointy.
Step3
Are rounders also well-grounded? 3. If You Have A Round Face, you will look great in soft, below-the-shoulders layers-they’ll help elongate your face. And you’ll also look good with long, side-swept bangs; they’ll narrow your face. DO NOT wear a center part or any chin-to-nape lengths. They’ll make your face look rounder and fuller.
Step4
These faces look life square in the eye. 4. Square Faces-Wear a length that falls between your jaw and shoulders; this’ll thin out your face. And DO go for side-swept bangs. You DON’T WANT short blunt-cut bangs, short bobs, or any angular styles (You may end up looking like a triangle!).
Step5
Are these faces long on talent? 5. For The Long And Narrow, you can wear short layers-they’ll show more of your face. A jaw-length bob with face-framing layers is also good. What ISN’T GOOD is long hair; The length will make your face look even more narrow.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are a few other lesser-known facial shapes such as diamond, rectangular, triangular (no kidding!), and a couple more, but the five mentioned above are the most common.
