The Approach. Feel out the gallery you want to show at....does it seem easy like getting into a folk art gallery that will take just about any kind of artwork or does it seem to be a very pristiene gallery with high standards?
Step2
Killer Portfolio. Put a lot of time and money into your portfolio and not only do you show examples include past invitations to your art shows as well as any newspaper write ups...make your portfolio impossible to say "no" to...
Step3
The Presentation. You must realize for an actual art show to be thrown for your arwwork that you must sell yourself... Are you going to be eccentric and unforgettable or are you going to blasse and common, I chose eccentric wearing coloured hair extensions and little clips such as butterflies all in my hair. I tried to be a Tableaux Vivant which is French for living picture....
Step4
Make your Art Show a stage. I have done poetry readings and performance art at some of my shows... The Artwork sold more quickly at those shows... just some tips!

One option for marketing art is to use the established system of sending submission packets to commercial galleries in hopes of getting represented. Of course, there are tons of galleries out there. So you’ll need to first compile the contact info, then sort it out and choose the galleries you are most interested in submitting to.
Low cost marketing systems and mailing lists like:
Mailingaide.com
are available to save you the time it takes to do the first part.
Sorting out the info and choosing the galleries to target is a very specific – and very individualized process. Mailingaide.com offers some links on its site to other articles and resources to help you do that, too.
Good luck and don’t get discouraged. It takes most people years to get represented. But, once you do you’ll have a dedicated agent showing, promoting, and selling your work – while you focus on making it.
