Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Paint the walls of the room in black and gold. Ironically, these are the colors of all three major professional sports franchises in the city of Pittsburgh. If you are a fan of the other teams, the room could become a tribute to the Steelers and Penguins as well as the Pirates.
Step2
Find a photo or poster of Forbes Field and hang it somewhere in the room. Forbes Field was the home of the Pirates for more than 60 years as well as some of the greatest players to ever play the game.
Step3
Have a small corner of the room dedicated to Roberto Clemente. Clemente is both arguably the greatest player and most beloved player in the entire history of the Pirates. Posters, plaques and even Bobbleheads memorializing Clemente can be found in memorabilia shops, team shops and online.
Step4
Buy the Sister Sledge record “We Are Family” and place it somewhere in the room. “We Are Family” was the official theme song of the 1979 Pirates. The team won the World Series that year.
Step5
Make guests gasp by purchasing a replica Honus Wagner baseball card and displaying it in the room. Wagner played for the Pirates in the early 1900s and the T206 Honus Wagner baseball card is the most famous card in sports history. It was the first card to sell for over $1 million.
Step6
Buy a large blanket with the Pirates logo on it and place the blanket over a chair in the room. This is a relatively inexpensive way to show off the team logo and can also keep you warm on those cold spring and fall nights that you spend watching baseball in your Pirates room.
Step7
Purchase a replica Willie Stargell uniform and hang it somewhere in the room. Stargell was probably the most recognized and popular member of the “We Are Family” championship team. The Pirates have retired his jersey number and Stargell is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
