Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- friends
- beverages
- space to hold the party
Step1
Send out invitations (email or regular mail or hand deliver). Keep the wording simple:
ST PADDY'S HAPPY HOUR at XXX's house,
Sunday, March 16, from 5 pm to whenever the food runs out,
BRING AN APPETIZER TO SHARE, DRINKS PROVIDED,
RSVP phone number, address.
Step2
Tidy up the place where the party will be.
Step3
Put around a few banners with Happy St. Patrick's Day or other seasonal decorations. Most craft stores carry these.
Step4
Play some Irish music to set the mood. You can borrow celtic music from the public library but it's in big demand at this time of year. It's probably best to just buy 2 or 3 CDs to use year after year.
Step5
Chill your drinks. It's nice to have some Killian's Irish beer and maybe a few Guinness (though some people aren't up to those). Make some green punch for the non-beer drinkers.
Step6
Let everyone settle in, having a good time eating the appetizers, drinking the drinks and visiting.
Step7
Part way through the party, hand out voting slips to the guests to vote on categories like:
*Best dressed Irish lad
*Best dressed Irish lass
*Guest wearing the most green
*Guest with the most blarney.
Have everyone put their own name on a plain slip to go in the drawing for the Guest with the most LUCK OF THE IRISH. Have some simple prizes to give out to the winners.

on 3/14/2008 Another fun tip is to order edible gold glitter online and use it to decorate food or cocktails...so everyone can have a little gold at the end of their rainbows ;)

on 3/13/2008 Sounds like fun. We always plant potatoes on St. Pat's Day.
