Things You'll Need:
- 4-inch square piece of felt for bill
- Snippet of contrasting felt for nostrils
- 3 x 12 inch felt for bottom
- 11 x 7 inch fabric for wing, may be pre-quilted fabric
- 18 x 24 fabric for body
- Thread to match
-
Step 1
Lay main body pieces together, wrong sides together, and stitch from notch, around the head to end of tail. Position bill by folding straight edge in half and catch in seam.
-
Step 2
Pin bottom of goose to main body, you may need to ease a little. Starting in the middle of one side, stitch around to within 4 to 5 inches of where you started.
-
Step 3
Turn goose, press seams, and stuff with polyfil. Close hole in bottom by hand.
-
Step 4
Lay wing pieces wrong sides together and stitch all the way around. If you use a non-quilted fabric, you may want to interface the wings with quilt batting. Leave a hole to turn the wings. Turn and then close the hole by hand. Set machine needle 5/8 inch away from edge of wing and top stitch all the way around. Set needle ½ inch inside wing from topstitching and repeat. Go ½ inch in and topstitch again. Instead of following the shape of the wing, you may want to create feathers by stitching in the shape of waves.
-
Step 5
Tack wings to body securely.
-
Step 6
Glue or sew eyes to head.
-
Step 7
Make a wreath for neck or tie on pretty ribbon. Use doll clothes to create different looks, hats and capes. Add spectacles, or a book under its arm for more character.
