Step 1
Be open about your budget. If people know where the money goes, they will realize how effective even a small donation can be.
-
Step 2
Put out a newsletter. Keep everyone internally involved in the organization up to date on the latest decisions, donations and events so they feel more personally and emotionally tied to your cause.
-
Step 3
Apply for a matching grant. When $100 will automatically become $200, some people will be more likely to participate.
-
Step 4
Don’t be afraid to ask. Some of your members or employees may simply have never considered donating financially because they already donate their time. Offer the option to enroll for small monthly pledges, bringing in a steady stream of income year-round.
-
Step 5
Send out invoices. As pushy as it may seem, once someone makes a pledge to donate a specific dollar amount, send an invoice to collect the balance due.

on 5/25/2008 Excellent tips. Thanks for sharing. Check out my article on how to Give Generously Without Breaking the Bank. These rules could be applied to a community organization and there could be great help.
