Make a Bunny Sock Doll

This is a great decoration or gift for a child. Read on to learn how to make a bunny sock doll.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One womens size 9 to 11 cotton crew sock
  • One infant size cotton sock
  • White thread
  • Stuffing
  • Embroidery floss for face
  • Fabric and lace for trim and dress
  • Velcro (1/4 inch)
  1. Step 1

Turn sock inside out (the heal of the sock will eventually be the face).

  2. Step 2

Sew a “V” in bottom of sock to form ears. Then cut out the “V”, but be careful to not cut the sewn line.

  3. Step 3

Sew ankle of sock about 2 inches from top. Then cut below sewn line, to cut this piece off the sock. Now sew two straight lines vertically in the middle of this portion so you can cut it in half in between the two sewn lines. These will be the arms.

  4. Step 4

Turn the sock to right side, including ears.

  5. Step 5

Where ears meet head, make tucks, sew, and wrap thread around to secure and form the ears.

  6. Step 6

Stuff head and body as tight and fat as desired.

  7. Step 7

Gather bottom of body. With needle and thread, use running stitch along the bottom then pull tight to gather bottom. When gathering, push edge inside, then stitch to secure.

  8. Step 8

To form head, triple thread and tie tightly around neck.

  9. Step 9

Lightly stuff arms and sew to sides just under neck. Stretch them to make sure they can wrap around the body. If short, sew a little closer in to the front.

  10. Step 10

Embroider or paint on face. Make eyes open and mouth open for mom, or eyes closed and simple smile for a baby.

  11. Step 11

Follow Steps 1 to 10 for baby on small sock, except arms are not needed unless desired.

  12. Step 12

Sew dress and blanket for mom and baby.

  13. Step 13

Hand sew Velcro to mom’s hands or sew the hands together if you want it permanent.
