Things You'll Need:
- Home office
-
Step 1
Make a proposal to your boss. If you are tired of commuting to work and think you could be more beneficial to your company working from home, talk it over with your superiors. Prepare yourself in advance by elaborating a list of benefits for the firm and how this arangement can work for all parties.
-
Step 2
Get ready. Start setting your home office. If you don't have a lot of space, you can use use a rolling laptop stand or portable desk. Make sure your office is located in a part of the house where there is a lot of sunlight. Avoid setting your working quarters in your bedroom, as the distractions will be too great, especially if you need to work in the evening hours.
-
Step 3
Be disciplined. Your boss may not be breathing down your back, but you are still employed by him. Work on a schedule and stick to it. Some people working from home have said because there are fewer distractions at home than in the office, especially during the morning hours, they have been able to get their work done in six hours or less.
-
Step 4
Be firm with your family. You are doing this because you want to spend more time with your loved ones, but you must be determined to keep to your schedule. Make sure they understand they cannot barge in your office at any time of the day.
