Poker can be a fun game for the entire family. Perhaps you're familiar with the game but your wife doesn't know how to play. Here is how you can teach your wife how to play poker.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go over the basic rules of poker with your wife. Teach her how many cards are dealt, how bets are placed and which hands defeat which. You can find basic information about poker online. This will make it easier to explain the game to your wife.

  2. Step 2

After you have gone over the basics, begin playing poker with just you and your wife. Deal all of the cards face up so you can teach your wife which hands to play and when and how to bet.

  3. Step 3

Once your wife becomes more familiar with poker, begin playing regular hands with her. Once again, simply play practice hands together. This time, however, deal the cards face down and play the hands as you would at any normal poker table.

  4. Step 4

Watch poker on television with your wife or have her watch you play either online or at a real table. Poker is learned by both watching and playing. By watching others play poker, your wife can become even more familiar with the game and also pick up different strategies.

  5. Step 5

Sign your wife up for a poker website and play some tournaments with her. Eventually, have her play on her own without your help. Watch her play and, after the tournament has concluded, tell her about any mistakes she may have made.

  6. Step 6

Bring your wife to a friendly poker game. If the poker games you in are serious, consider hosting a friendly game at your home. Playing poker in person gives a new player such as your wife a different perspective on the game and how to play it.

  7. Step 7

Be willing to answer any questions your wife may have during the process. It's important to be patient and remember that, at one point, everybody was a beginner.
